ABC'S AVENGERS ENTERS SIXTH SERIES

CANADIAN GIRL TO SUCCEED DIANA RIGG

The new AVENGERS series stars PATRICK MACNEE, who has been playing "John Steed" since the programme started in 1961, and LINDA THORSON, a 20-year-old Canadian actress who has just left the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

LINDA THORSON plays "Miss Tara King", daughter of a prosperous farmer. The character of "Tara" will have all the skills associated with an open air life. At her expensive finishing school "Tara" has also learned to glide, ski and fly, as well as acquring all the sophistication of a member of the young international set.

"Tara King" (the name "Tara" was LINDA THORSON'S own choice) will be a completely different character from "Emma Peel" and "Cathy Gale". She will be essentially warm, feminine and sexy, with an exuberant and jaunty approach to her adventures. She will do some fighting, but will be known to scream for help on occasion, and will rely more on feminine guile than muscular skill.

In charge of the sixth AVENGERS series will be GORDON SCOTT as Executive Producer, BRIAN CLEMENS as Producer and JACK GREENWOOD as Production Controller. A new wardrobe has been created to emphasize the feminine image of "Tara King".
